What I’m Working On

I’ve dropped some hints here and there on social media about my next book, but I figured I’d give an official update.

I’m working on Marilee’s story! If you’ve read Just Ella, you’ll remember Marilee as the vibrant, fun, and often silly sister. She is the second youngest and was more than a little bit shallow and naive.

Marilee has her happily ever after. She married the handsome son of a sovereign duke and moved to his picturesque estate. But after eight months of marriage, Marilee has lost her love for life, as it’s been squashed out of her by her domineering husband. He has pushed her to the breaking point. So when he suddenly dies, she is left to rebuild her life and her confidence with the help of a few loyal servants, and her kind neighbor, Mr. Sutton. But reclaiming the ability to love and trust will take time and patience, from both of them.

I wrote the first pages of this book while on a flight to Virginia last April. I was on my way to surprise my youngest sister for her baby shower. We were all sitting around on her front porch when I pulled it out and let several of my sisters (I have 5) read it. I could tell they were as intrigued by it as I was, and I’ve been excited about it ever since. I’ve also been anxious to know what would happen because I always have to wait and see what my characters decide to do. It’s been fun watching Marilee take charge of her life and grow up.

I’ve got a cover photo shoot scheduled! I’m so excited about the location. I saw the pictures of this place and was blown away by the sheer gorgeousness. It made me wish I was planning my wedding so that I could have a party there! I have enlisted the fantastic Fauset Photography (another fabulous sister) and I’m excited to see what we can come up with!

    • I’m hoping it will be before summer. That’s my best guess! Hopefully I can announce a release date and reveal the cover together.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed reading Just Ella and Missing Lilly. I just had my second baby and it has truly helped me curb any ppd by looking forward to read your books while I nurse my daughter. Thank you so much for writing these clean romance novels! I had horrible anxiety and depression with my first baby so taking up reading and finding excellent clean romance novels has made such a difference! Looking forward to more from you!

    • Thank you so much, Holly! I’m so glad to know that they’ve helped you a bit with your PPD. Depression runs in my family, so I know what a big deal that is. Hang in there and say hello to your little one for me. 🙂

    Hi!
I’ve been skimming through previous posts, and was confused by something – what happened to Lorraina’s story? Did you set it aside to grow new and better ideas? Did it just flicker out and die? Did one of your children eat your only manuscript? ( c= )
Anyways. I’m about to order ‘Missing Lily’ and I’m super excited to hear more about Marilee. And I hope that your writing is progressing in ginormous leaps and bounds, that the pages of your manuscripts fill up so fast that you’re shocked when you think, ‘I wrote all that?!’ and that any writer’s block will be brief. I’ll have to say, once again, you’re an amazing author. You deserve all of that ^

    • Lorraina’s story is still kicking around in my head and in a file on my laptop. 🙂 Her’s will likely be a short story/novella. I’ve only had one scene for her story come to me really vividly and I’m waiting for the rest to fill in. I’m planning on working on her story after I finish Marilee’s, but I can’t make any guarantees. 🙂
I hope you enjoy Missing Lily! Thanks for the well wishes. My best to you.
