ANOTHER New Cover??

I wasn’t planning to post today, but I did a thing last week, and I love how it turned out, so I had to share!

Story Time

Once Upon a Time…It was 2019 and I released a contemporary book. I loved this book. It had tension and family drama and adorable moments. But years passed before I realized that what I had written was…a ROMCOM.

This begs the question: how did I not know it was a romcom??

Here’s the thing. I didn’t set out to write a romcom, so from my perspective, this book was just a fabulous, tension-filled, enemies-to-lovers book with some great comedic moments. I knew it had a lot of humor, but for some reason I thought it wasn’t comedic ENOUGH to qualify. However, in the last year, I have realized the error of my ways and concluded that I was wrong about that. All That Stands Between Us is totally a romcom.

So then, why does that even matter?

Well, marketing for one. If I’m not telling people it’s a romcom, and they are looking for a romcom, then how are they supposed to know that my book might fit the bill?

Secondly, in the book world, romcom covers have a very specific look. A quick peak at the romantic comedy category on Amazon makes it clear:

Romcoms have illustrated covers. They just do. Of the top 50 romcoms in that Amazon category, only two have non-illustrated covers. This has been the case for years and it continues to be the market expectation. In fact, it was a trend that I was hoping would pass because a lot of the time, I don’t really care for this style of cover. That’s probably why I’ve left my own cover alone for the past several months, even after realizing this book was, in fact, a romcom.

Well, my friends, THAT HAS CHANGED.

I had a burst of DO-ALL-THE-THINGS energy two weeks ago, and decided to take a chance on a totally new cover designer and get a new cover! One that would reflect my book’s true ROMCOM energy. And y’all, I am SO GLAD I did.

I cannot adequately express just how happy I am with this cover. It fits the market standard. And the characters are SO STINKIN’ CUTE.

He’s cute and sweet.
He makes her smile.
He’s also her family’s sworn enemy.

*Contented sigh* It makes me smile. I hope you like it!
