Happy release day, my lovelies!!! Get it here!
I’m fairly certain that this is the book that’s been the longest wait for me, not because it took me a long time to write or because the release was delayed, but simply because these characters have been waiting their turn for SO LONG. Yes, John (Waking Roslyn) had been with me for many books, but I didn’t know who his love would be, or what their dynamics would look like until I started writing his book.
But these two??
FROM HOOKED:
“Gretchen, Ansel!” Johnny called out. “Take the maiden to safety in the garden.”
Gretchen ran over and grabbed my hand with her tiny one, towing me away as Ansel followed us by walking backward, never giving his back to the enemy or lowering his sword.
—Seven years old
FROM CLOAKED IN SCARLET:
I slipped back inside, spotting Ansel right away. He had pilfered a chunk of bread and was just shoving the last bite into his mouth as he passed by me. “I’m going to win this one,” I heard him mutter to himself before flinging the door open and charging out. I wished him well, knowing that Gretchen would put up a good fight.
—Eleven years old
FROM SWINDLER’S DAUGHTER:
Gretchen’s smile grew, her face becoming more animated, and the swish of her skirts got bigger and bigger.
Ansel stood in the corner, leaning against a wall. His face became more entranced as he watched her. The twelve-year-old looked positively smitten.
—Twelve years old
FROM WAKING ROSLYN:
Gretchen nodded eagerly. “I do sneak attacks on Ansel all the time, just to be sure he’s getting enough practice.”
She looked so proud of herself, and I almost felt bad for the young man who had to contend with her on a regular basis. She was diabolical.
—Thirteen years old
Yeah, I’ve known these two and their dynamics for a LONG time. So being able to write their story, and especially being able to (FINALLY!) let YOU read their story...
*Sigh* Such a relief.
