Audiobooks?? Or Videobooks…

DO YOU LIKE AUDIOBOOKS?!?!??

Over the years, I’ve received questions about/requests for audiobooks. Have I considered it? Yes. Many times. It’s something always at the back of my mind. But each time I’ve looked into it, I can’t seem to justify it.

Traditional audiobooks have a weighty cost to their creation. One I couldn’t justify spending when I don’t believe the demand will be that great. And being the creative control freak that I am, it was hard for me to even contemplate handing over the narration of my books to someone else.

So instead of your run-of-the-mill audiobook, I’m going to do something a little different. I’m putting the audio on YouTube!

I have a YouTube channel which most of you probably aren’t aware of. I’ve used it for fun stuff like music videos that I’ve done with my family, and once in a while I’ll throw up a little video about writing or publishing tips.

Now, I’m going to use it for something new!

The new content will, first and foremost, be videos of me reading a chapter at a time of my books. I’ve started with Just Ella, (the first three chapters are already up!) and will continue, chapter by chapter, in the order that they were written until I’ve caught up.

This will be a big time investment for me, but I don’t mind that. It’s something I think I’ll enjoy, and because I won’t be charging people for the audiobook, I don’t feel like it has to be perfect.

And BONUS, it’s free for all of you!

Each book will be put in its own playlist to make listening to consecutive chapters easy. If you’ve ever wondered how I imagine a character saying something, well, this will be your chance to find out.

Welcome to the inside of my mind!

It would mean a lot to me if you all would go check out the channel, SUBSCRIBE to it, and give a listen to some of the chapters. If you have friends or family who love audiobooks, please pass the links along.

HI! I’m about two-thirds in now, and enjoying it thoroughly. I read a review that it’s not fluff, and I agree. I’ve actually owned Just Ella in paperback for about 7-8 years, but still hadn’t read it, because shortly afterward acquiring it, I mostly switched over to Kindle and audiobooks because the fit my lifestyle well. I don’t know how much it costs to make audio books, but in my opinion, I think your reading of Just Ella is perfectly lovely.
