Lingering Grief and Pretty Things

We’re watching my brother-in-law’s dog for a few days. His name is Charlie and this is a regular occurrence. You see, we and two of my husband’s brothers all bought dogs from the same litter almost thirteen years ago. So whenever one of us goes out of town, the litter mates get to have a sleep over.

Charlie usually finds a place to sack out and ignore me for the duration of his stay. Today, he followed me around all morning, looking sad. You see, his sister isn’t here anymore. A couple weeks ago (while my husband and I were out of town and it was only our kids here to deal with it) my dog, Miss Piggy, took a sudden turn for the worst, and within 36 hours, she had passed away. She’s been in poor health for a while, but she had been improving lately, so her death wasn’t completely unexpected, but it was surprising how quickly she went.

I miss my little Pigs. She was a sweetheart.

Sorry to be a downer. I blame Charlie for dredging up my grief by looking at me with those sad eyes and because he looks so much like her.

But on to happier things!

Over the past two week, all twelve of the books in The Shattered Tales series have had their cover debuts, so I figured I’d put them up here, all together so that you and I (mostly I) can ooh and ahh over them.

Since this is the first collaborative series I’ve done, I don’t really have anything to compare it to, but I gotta say, I’m pretty proud of us. Coordinating twelve authors, some of whom are brand new, was not an easy feat, but I’m really happy with how things are going so far. Plus! I’m getting to know some truly fabulous women.

Here’s the release schedule:

And now that the cover reveals are done, I can try to buckle down and get to work on my Sleeping Beauty retelling. It will be Book Five in the Tales of Winberg series, and it’s Johnny’s story. (Yay! He finally gets his own story!)

Also, Keeping Kinley is still on sale for $1.99.

Aaww, poor Charlie. Poor family. Pets really do capture our hearts don’t they? You’ll miss Miss Piggy for a long time. But I’m glad your new little Tucker is helping you all. All the covers look so fabulous! They are going to be fun to read! (Although I already read yours and Kimberly’s, being your mom and all… lucky me!) On to happier times! Love ya!!
